We are delighted to announce that The Most Rev Dr Phillip Aspinall, Archbishop of Brisbane, will be discussing this issue at the July meeting of PAX. Do not miss this chance to hear from and meet Archbishop Aspinall and discuss this important issue. Jesus in the Gutter

01:55
A Poem by Adrian Gibb (full poem below) Coordinator of PAX - St Thomas' Anglican Church - Toowong Jesus in the Gutter I saw Jesus in the gutter at half past two today I stumbled over his withered and shaking skinny frame I stood stunned and silent, not quite knowing what to say Not knowing who to call and not knowing who to blame I bent my knee and nudged him, just above his right hand And slowly the fetid and stinking corpse came to life His shirt was in tatters, his jeans clung by a strand And his eyes looked like hellfire, though his gaze was a knife "Is it you?" I asked with concern. "Why do you lie half dead?" "It won't be long..." he said heaving, "...please... please!" "Till what?" I pressed and he leaned in close, "Till they do what I said!" "Till they feed me, and help me, me the 'least of these'!" I lifted him up a little, and saw tatters of scripture for his bedding Mouldy scraps of bread and empty wine bottles clinked as he moved An old newspaper was his pillow, 'Is faith dead?' was its heading And to stop his slight whimpering I sought to calm and sooth "You know that you can stop this, and make a choice to leave!" "Why stay here with us when you have a universe to attend?" "The world has stopped caring, don't you see they don't believe!" "I know..." he said sadly. "But I still believe in them!" I saw Jesus in the gutter at half past two today I should have stayed and fed him, instead, I walked away!
CAFE CHURCH TRANSITUS OF FRANCIS

02:12
For our Franciscan Café Church this year we will be looking at and participating in the Transitus of St. Francis. This is a liturgical re-enactment of the final night of the life of Francis, as he moved from this world, into the next. Francis’ last hours were spent in contemplation and teaching, and the Transitus is a powerful experience for all who participate. “Even death itself, considered by all to be so terrible and hateful, was exhorted to give praise, while he himself, going joyfully to meet it, invited it to make its abode with him. "Welcome," he said, "my sister death."” Celano Everyone is welcome! 5.30pm Saturday 11th October Parish Centre - High Street, Toowong www.stthomastoowong.org.au
