HTML Tutorial: Page Formatting

03:49
Watch more HTML Tutorials videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/480438-HTML-Tutorial-Page-Formatting "Hi, I am Daniel Davis. I am a certified computer expert and tech guru. Along with having one of the top tech channels on youtube, my work has also been featured in textbooks, software guides, and hundreds of popular tech blogs. And today I am going to be talking to you about HTML. Html is the coding language that webpages are written in. To create a basic webpage all you need is a text editor, such as notepad in Windows or Text Edit in Mac and a web browser. Html separates the different sections of the webpage using what's called markup tags. These are characterized by angled brackets. Within the website you'll see a head section and a body section. The body section is where the content of the webpage goes. To add text to your webpage, you can use the p markup tag for paragraph. Add your text and then close off the markup tag like this. In order to align the text to the page you need to add what's called an attribute to the p tag that reads align equals center or right or left depending on how you want it align it. By adding a font tag you can add size and color attributes to change the size and color of the font. Anytime you want to preview your webpage just save it as an html file and open it up in a web browser. Likewise to add a picture, you can add an img markup tag and use the src attribute to set it equal to the image location. You can use the center tags to align it to the center of the page. By adding attributes to the body tag you can change the settings for the entire page. For instance you can set the background color , the background image and the text color from here. When it comes to formatting pages, the basic approach would be to add page breaks like this which breaks the content into separate lines. Or you could use horizontal rules like this, which separates content using a horizontal line. A more advanced way though would be to use tables. To create a basic table you start by adding the table markup tags, then in between them you can add the row markup tags. You can add an opening and closing row tag for however many rows that you want in the table. Then in between each row tag, you want to add the data cell tags which will create the columns. If I add 2 columns to the first row then to keep the table even, I need to add 2 columns to each of the remaining rows. It's in between these td tags that you'll place your content. Like with all the other previous markup tags, you can add attributes to change the look of the tables, such as the background color, the border size, cell padding and alignment. If you want the table to be invisible, just set the border size to zero. Another option you have for organizing your content is through using lists. There's 2 types of lists, numbered or organized listed denoted by the ol markup tag, and bulleted or unorganized lists denoted by the ul markup tag. Each item in the list will be surrounded by li markup tags to show that they are list items. So that should get you started with getting your webpage data formatted and organized. "

html head h1 style="background-color:black;color:white" center HTML center /h1 /head body bgcolor='yellow' p style="background-color:green;color:white;" Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is the standard markup language for creating web pages and web applications. With Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript, it forms a triad of cornerstone technologies for the World Wide Web.[4] Web browsers receive HTML documents from a web server or from local storage and render the documents into multimedia web pages. HTML describes the structure of a web page semantically and originally included cues for the appearance of the document. HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages. With HTML constructs, images and other objects such as interactive forms may be embedded into the rendered page. HTML provides a means to create structured documents by denoting structural semantics for text such as headings, paragraphs, lists, links, quotes and other items. HTML elements are delineated by tags, written using angle brackets. Browsers do not display the HTML tags, but use them to interpret the content of the page. HTML can embed programs written in a scripting language such as JavaScript, which affects the behavior and content of web pages. Inclusion of CSS defines the look and layout of content. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), maintainer of both the HTML and the CSS standards, has encouraged the use of CSS over explicit presentational HTML since 1997 /p h2 marquee HTML marquee h2 /body /html

jquery background color animate

06:58
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/07/jquery-background-color-animate.html In this video we will discuss animating colors using jquery. With the basic jQuery functionality, animate() method cannot animate non-numeric style properties like color, background-color, and border-color. jQuery UI adds the ability to animate color properties. In the example below a reference to jQuery UI is included, hence the color animations work. If we remove the reference, color animations will not work, but other numeric style properties (font-size, border-width) continue to work. <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script src="jquery-ui.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var toggleColor = false; $('#btnAnimate').click(function () { var divElement = $('#myDiv'); if (toggleColor) { divElement.animate({ 'font-size': '15', 'border-width': '1', 'background-color': 'red', 'color': 'white', 'border-color': 'green' }, 2000); } else { divElement.animate({ 'font-size': '20', 'border-width': '10', 'background-color': 'green', 'color': 'white', 'border-color': 'red' }, 2000); } toggleColor = !toggleColor; }); }); </script> <style> </style> </head> <body style="font-family: Arial"> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="myDiv" style="width: 500px; border: 1px solid black; padding: 5px; font-size: 15px"> At Pragim Technologies, training is delivered by real time software experts having more than 10 years of experience. What are jQuery DOM manipulation methods 2. How to set attribute values using jQuery attr() method 3. How to retrieve attribute values using jQuery attr() method 4. How to set multiple attribute values using jQuery attr() method 5. How to remove an attribute using jQuery removeAttr() method What are jQuery DOM manipulation methods jQuery DOM manipulation methods manipulate the DOM in some manner. The complete list of jQuery DOM manipulation methods can be found at the following link. http://api.jquery.com/category/manipulation/ jQuery attr method is used to set or retrieve attribute values of html elements. Retrieves the title attribute value of the first matching element $('div').attr('title') Example : In this example we have 2 DIV elements. Since attr() function retrieves only the attribute value of first matching element, we only get the title attribute value of the first DIV element. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { alert($('div').attr('title')); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <div id="div1" title="My DIV1"> DIV 1 </div> <div id="div2" title="My DIV2"> DIV 2 </div> </body> </html> To retrieve the title attribute value of all the matching elements, jQuery each() method can be used. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('div').each(function () { alert($(this).attr('title')); }); }); </script> Sets the title attribute value of all the matching elements to "new div title" $('div').attr('title', 'new div title'); Example : If you want to set the same value for the title attribute of all the elements, then there is no need to loop thru each element. All the div elements in this case will have 'new div title' as the title attribute value. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { // set the same title attribute value for all the DIV elements $('div').attr('title', 'new div title'); // Retrieve and alert the title attribute value of all DIV elements $('div').each(function () { alert($(this).attr('title')); }); }); </script> If you want to set a different value for the title attribute, then you may need to loop thru each element. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { // sets a different title attribute value for each DIV element $('div').each(function (i) { $(this).attr('title', 'div ' + (i + 1) + ' title'); }); // Retrieve and alert the title attribute value of all DIV elements $('div').each(function () { alert($(this).attr('title')); }); }); </script> How to set multiple attribute values : Using a JSON object to set multiple attribute values <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var config = { 'title': 'New Div Title', 'style': 'border:3px solid red;', 'name': 'My Div' }; $('div').attr(config); var result = ''; $('div').each(function () { result += 'title = ' + $(this).attr('title') + '<br/>'; result += 'style = ' + $(this).attr('style') + '<br/>'; result += 'name = ' + $(this).attr('name') + '<br/><br/>'; }); $('#resultSpan').html(result); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <div id="div1" title="My DIV1"> DIV 1 </div> <br /> <div id="div2" title="My DIV2"> DIV 2 </div> <br /> <span id="resultSpan"> </span> </body> </html> Instead of creating a separate JSON object (config) and then passing it to attr() method, you can create the JSON object inline. $('div').attr({ 'title': 'New Div Title', 'style': 'border:3px solid red;', 'name': 'My Div' });

CSS Tutorial — How to use Fonts (12/13)

04:41
CSS Tutorial — How to use Fonts (12/13) All you gotta do to change the font of your page is decide what font you wanna use, say Roboto and write font-family: Roboto… Really? No... not really, it’s more complicated than that. Typography is a gigantic topic in web design and of course you have a ton of options in CSS to better your font styles and its readability. Now this isn’t a design course, so I won’t be covering design theory, I’m not gonna tell you what looks good and what doesn’t, but I will show you how to manage your fonts in HTML/CSS. You can use fonts that already exist on your computer and everybody else’s computers like “Times New Roman” or “Arial”, these are generic “WEB SAFE” fonts, but they’re limited and honestly kinda boring. Or you can use what’s called a custom font. There are a ton of custom fonts out there. If you’re a designer you have definitely worked with custom fonts so you know what I’m talking, you’re also not gonna like what I’m about to say. I am not a huge fan using custom fonts for websites Not because they’re not cool or pretty. But for one thing, not all browsers render custom fonts the same way or even correctly, so you potentially run that risk. Also, using custom fonts means anybody going to your site has to wait for the browser to download the custom font first, then render the site. Where as with generic fonts it doesn’t. And that’s costly, it takes time and bandwidth. Lastly, a huge proportion of custom fonts are great for banners and flyers and quotes (SHOW INSTAGRAM QUOTE, SHAKE HEAD), but they are absolutely awful for long body text like articles. Their readability is not always the best. With all that said, a lot of people still use them for many different reasons. Trust me, I understand the importance of uniqueness and personality when it comes to design, in fact ColorCode’s website uses a custom font on the hero page, but it comes at a cost. Custom fonts are like a chocolate milkshake. They’re sooo amazing but you really shouldn’t be doing it, unless you are willing to pay the price… Anyway,...I still want you to know how to change fonts. There are 2 things you need to do. Load or “EMBED” the font into the page (assuming it’s a custom font, for generic fonts you can skip this step), THEN change the font-family property in your CSS. How do you load fonts? Using a LINK tag in your HTML… OR…. an @import or @Font-Face statement in your CSS to point to the location of that font. It could be loaded from anywhere on the internet and I’ll show you an example in a second. Again, if you’re using a default font, you don’t need to load anything, because Arial is already available on everybody’s computer/phone/iPad, etc... So,...we’re gonna get some help from our friends over at google fonts to demo this. So head over to fonts.google.com and I’ll show you how. So here it is, a long list of custom fonts for you, pick one and look at the instructions. So I’m gonna pick Roboto and look, it even generates the code for you to embed and then set the font-family. Notice the embed part can be done in a couple of different ways, also the CSS font-family statement can take multiple values separated by a comma. This means hey, Mr. Browser, if you can’t find the first one for whatever reason, cuz it’s a fancy one, go to the next one, if you can’t find that one either, keep going until you get to one that you CAN render. You always wanna have backups in case your custom font can’t be loaded. So, in the next video I’m gonna update our Profile page to use Google Fonts. It’ll be our last demo in this course and it’ll instantly make our page look much more professional, see you there.

jquery animate function

The following example animates the div element, while changing the font-size property of the div element from its initial size to 50 pixels over a period of 2000 milli-seconds (2 seconds). <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#myButton').click(function () { $('#myDiv').animate({ 'font-size': '50' }, 2000); }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <input type="button" id="myButton" value="Animate" /> <br /><br /> <div id="myDiv"> jQuery animate function </div> </body> </html> Syntax of jquery animate function .animate( properties [, duration ] [, easing ] [, complete ] ) Animate function has 4 parameters. Only the first parameter (properties) is the required parameter. Rest 3 are optional. properties - An object of CSS properties and values duration - The duration for animation in milliseconds. Default is 400. easing - Easing function to use for the transition. Default is swing. You could also use linear. complete - A function to call once the animation is complete What is jQuery easing Easing is a technique where the speed and/or direction of animation are changed while the animation is in progress. Easing can make the animation start off slow and gradually speed up, start up fast and gradually slow down, and a whole host of other effects. The difference between linear and swing easing is very subtle. The following page shows all the easings provided by jQuery UI https://jqueryui.com/easing The following example increases the height and width of the image to 400 pixels on mouseover. On mouseout the height and width are reduced to 100 pixels. <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#myImage').on({ mouseover: function () { $(this).animate({ 'height': 400, 'width': 400, }, 3000); }, mouseout: function () { $(this).animate({ 'height': 100, 'width': 100, }, 3000); } }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <img id="myImage" height="100" width="100" src="/Images/Tulips.jpg" /> </body> </html> In the following example, several calls to animate() method are chained together. By default these calls are placed into a queue to be executed one after the other in series rather than executing all of them simultaneously in parallel. <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#myImage').click(function () { $(this) .animate({ 'left': '300' }) .animate({ 'top': '200' }) .animate({ 'left': '10' }) .animate({ 'top': '10' }); }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <img id="myImage" height="100" width="100" style="position:absolute" src="/Images/Tulips.jpg" /> </body> </html> Please note: By default, all HTML elements have a static position, and cannot be moved. To modify the position , set the CSS position property of the element to fixed, absolute or relative.

jQuery to detect which mouse button clicked

Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/04/jquery-to-detect-which-mouse-button.html In this video we will discuss, how to detect which mouse button is clicked using jQuery. With raw JavaScript event object : Depending on the browser, event.button or event.which properties of the event object are used to determine which mouse button is clicked. IE 8 & earlier versions use event.button property Left Button 1 Middle Button 4 Right Button 2 IE 9 & later versions and most other W3C compliant browsers use event.which property Left Button 1 Middle Button 2 Right Button 3 If you are using raw JavaScript event object, the following is the amount of code that you have to write to detect which mouse button is clicked. This code works in all browsers. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function whichMouseButtonClicked(event) { var whichButton; if (event.which) { switch (event.which) { case 1: whichButton = "Left Button Clicked"; break; case 2: whichButton = "Middle Button Clicked"; break; case 3: whichButton = "Right Button Clicked"; break; default: whichButton = "Invalid Button Clicked"; break; } } else { switch (event.button) { case 1: whichButton = "Left Button Clicked"; break; case 4: whichButton = "Middle Button Clicked"; break; case 2: whichButton = "Right Button Clicked"; break; default: whichButton = "Invalid Button Clicked"; break; } } document.getElementById('divResult').innerHTML = whichButton; } </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <input id="btn" type="button" value="Click Me" onmouseup="whichMouseButtonClicked(event)" /> <br /><br /> <div id="divResult"></div> </body> </html> jQuery normalizes which property of the event object so it will work across all browsers. The amount of code you have to write is lot less. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#btn').mouseup(function (event) { switch (event.which) { case 1: whichButton = "Left Button Clicked"; break; case 2: whichButton = "Middle Button Clicked"; break; case 3: whichButton = "Right Button Clicked"; break; default: whichButton = "Invalid Button Clicked"; break; } $('#divResult').html(whichButton); }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <input id="btn" type="button" value="Click Me" /> <br /><br /> <div id="divResult"></div> </body> </html>

WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire website

02:57
WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire site Full article: http://imstartpage.com/change-font-wordpress-font-type-size-color Find or convert hex colors: http://imstartpage.com/color-code-conversion-tool-rgb-hex-cmyk Follow me on other media: ►Website: http://www.guidoshowtos.com ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/guidoshowtos ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/guidoshowtos ►Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Guidoshowtos Full instructions: The method I'm going to show, will change the default font on your entire website. The default font on your site is specified by a file called a 'stylesheet'. The stylesheet is part of your current WordPress theme. So; to change your font, you'll have to edit your stylesheet. To find out exactly what to edit, you can use a feature in Google Chrome; right-click the font you want to change, and then click 'inspect element'. On the right side of the menu, you'll see exactly what parts of the stylesheet are being used to make your site look the way it looks. Here, scroll down until you find something that says 'font'. OK, this is the part that specifies what fonts are being used on your site. You can have a look at the entire stylesheet by clicking this link. To change the font in WordPress, we need to find this part of the stylesheet in the back-end of WordPress. Because your stylesheet contains hundreds of lines of code, an easy way to find it is to use Google Chrome's search feature. So, I'm going to copy this part of the code, and add it in the search bar later. To edit your stylesheet, go to your dashboard, then click 'Appearance', and then 'Editor'. By default, it'll open the stylesheet, so that's style.css. Now press Ctrl+F to bring up the search bar, a and paste the text you copied earlier. This will bring you to the exact code you need to edit. For 'Font size', change the number to make your font smaller or larger. To change the font type, edit the name of the font, for 'font-family'. The first one in the line is the one that's going to be used. For 'color', enter the color you want to use. These are specified in the hexadecimal format (hex). When you're done making changes, scroll down and click 'Update file'. And that's it! Go back to your site, and refresh the page to see the changes take effect. And it works; your site is now using a larger font, another font type, and another font color. --- Dutch article: http://websiteopzetten.com/lettertype-font-veranderen-wordpress-type-grootte-kleur/ Also read: http://websiteopzetten.com/webhosting/

jQuery input vs input

06:29
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/03/jquery-input-vs-input.html In this video we will discuss the difference between $(input) and $(:input) selectors $(:input) selects all input, textarea, select and button elements where as $(input) just selects elements with an input tag. The following is the HTML used in the examples. Replace < with LESSTHAN symbol and > with GREATERTHAN Symbol. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> First Name : <input type="text" value="John" /> <br /><br /> Last Name : <input type="text" value="Major" /> <br /><br /> Gender : <input type="radio" name="gender" checked="checked" value="Male">Male <input type="radio" name="gender" value="Female">Female <br /><br /> Skills : <input type="checkbox" name="skills" checked="checked" value="JavaScript" />JavaScript <input type="checkbox" name="skills" checked="checked" value="jQuery" />jQuery <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="C#" />C# <br /><br /> Country: <select> <option selected="selected" value="USA">USA</option> <option value="India">India</option> <option value="UK">UK</option> </select> <br /><br /> Summary : <br /> <textarea>I am a Senior Dot Net Developer with 10 years experience</textarea> <br /><br /> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </body> </html> Now we want to get the text value from all the textboxes. On this page we have 2 textboxes 1. First Name 2. Last Name jQuery code to get textbox value using $(input) <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('input[type="text"]').each(function () { alert($(this).val()); }); }); </script> jQuery code to get textbox value using $(:input) <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $(':input[type="text"]').each(function () { alert($(this).val()); }); }); </script> Which one is better for performance $('input[type="text"]') or $(':input[type="text"]') $('input[type="text"]') is better for performance over $(':input[type="text"]'). This is because $(':input[type="text"]') needs to scan all input elements, textarea, select etc, where as $('input[type="text"]') scans only input elements. So if you want to find elements with an input tag, it is always better to use $('input[type="text"]') over $(':input[type="text"]')

How to convert JSON object to string 2. How to convert string to JSON object This is continuation Part 18. Please watch Part 18 from jQuery tutorial before proceeding. Replace < with LESSTHAN symbol and > with GREATERTHAN symbol The following example converts JSON array to a string. JSON.stringify() method converts a JSON object (or array) into a string. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var employeesJSON = [ { "firstName": "Todd", "lastName": "Grover", "gender": "Male", "salary": 50000 }, { "firstName": "Sara", "lastName": "Baker", "gender": "Female", "salary": 40000 } ]; var JSONString = JSON.stringify(employeesJSON); $('#resultDiv').html(JSONString); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <div id="resultDiv"></div> </body> </html> Output : [{"firstName":"Todd","lastName":"Grover","gender":"Male","salary":50000}, {"firstName":"Sara","lastName":"Baker","gender":"Female","salary":40000}] The following example converts a string to a JSON array. JSON.parse() method converts a JSON string to JSON array. We then use the jQuery each() method to loop thru each employee JSON object and retrieve the respective property values. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var JSONString = '[{ "firstName": "Todd", "lastName": "Grover", "gender": "Male", "salary": 50000 }, { "firstName": "Sara", "lastName": "Baker", "gender": "Female", "salary": 40000 }]'; var employeesJSON = JSON.parse(JSONString); var result = ''; $.each(employeesJSON, function (i, item) { result += 'First Name = ' + item.firstName + '<br/>'; result += 'Last Name = ' + item.lastName + '<br/>'; result += 'Gender = ' + item.gender + '<br/>'; result += 'Salary = ' + item.salary + '<br/><br/>'; }); $('#resultDiv').html(result); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> <div id="resultDiv"></div> </body> </html>
