Try this music composition trick at home. Baroque improvisation.
I chose baroque style for this example that this can be done with any style. It can also be done with more than one musician at the time. If you have a way of recording your moments of inspiration and then play it at different speed try this. Ideally you will need a way of recording a midi file with your improvisation and then be able to change the speed 2 3 or even 4 times the original speed. Remember everything will go faster, therefore be careful to finish extremely slow so the piece does not end so suddenly. If you cannot record the piece in midi the quality might be affected. I don't see the way of recording midi other than from a keyboard. Still there is software and devices that manage to speed up a sound file affecting slightly the quality. Also keep on mind that some speeding systems will change also the pitch (for example will double the pitch if you double the speed). In that case I recommend you to either look for another way of speeding your work or to record everything one or even two octaves lower if possible. Good luck. How to Write a Melody (Music Theory/Composition)
In this video I tell you what you need to know to write a basic and effective melody using 4 basic guidelines and knowledge of a scale, key, and tonic. This is part of my Music Theory series. Today's thumbnail feature Carl Phillip Emanuel (CPE) Bach, a famed composer of the Galant and Classical styles known for his beautiful and elegant melodies. He was also the son of Johann Sebastian (JS) Bach, a master of the high baroque style. History shows an odd reversal with this son-father pair, as JS Bach was not particularly well known or highly regarded in his lifetime, but his son enjoyed great success. In modern times, the roles have reversed and it JS that is well known and deeply studied while CPE is frequently overlooked. NEW! How to Write a Song: Tips for Writing Lyrics to Music | Songwriting | Tips & Techniques
Download Your Free Songwriting Handbook Now: https://berkonl.in/2v4qUyj Earn Your Songwriting Degree Online with Berklee: https://berkonl.in/2w6KwPi In this free tutorial, Berklee Online instructor Andrea Stolpe shares how to write a song using tips and techniques that will help you to write lyrics to music and convey your message to your listeners. Placing that perfect lyrical idea into a melody without it sounding unnatural is a common obstacle to many songwriters. An unfortunate setting of a word or phrase can sink the emotion of the song, calling your listener's attention away from WHAT you are saying to HOW you are saying it. Writing Lyrics to Music analyzes a variety of song forms to instruct you on key lyrical and melodic components: stressed and unstressed beats, rhyme positions, melodic sections, and tone. You'll work through different musical feels and time signatures, and discover how the natural shapes of the words follow the shape of the melody, ultimately creating a much more expressive composition. This is a "can't miss" course - it's bound to take your writing to the next level. It will also make you a more valuable co-writer. Through listening and analysis, you will be able to recognize and discuss quality elements in musical and lyrical structures. You will learn arranging techniques that support the style and structure of a song with appropriate instrumentation. You will develop your own voice as a songwriter and learn to write more effectively and efficiently, whether by yourself or in collaboration with other songwriters. STUDY MUSIC - Two Hours of Soft Piano Music- Concentration and Focus on Learning by STUDY MUSIC
PLEASE CLICK THE 🔔BELL TO GET UPDATES AND DON'T FORGET TO ► SUBSCRIBE! ► http://goo.gl/F8CSkV Music has inspired cultural and economic activities from ancient times to the present day. Music from diverse regions of the world can successfully enhance concentration, memory, mental stamina, the ability to perceive sounds with accuracy and an increased focus on learning. This is an effective strategy for students preparing to take an entrance exam to get into their favorite college or university. Focus on Learning Music Neuroscience professionals recently studied these personal experiences by using objective methods to track the effects of early exposure to music and speech processing. The results were published in The Journal of Neuroscience. The studies concluded that studying music at an early age provides a variety of benefits for the brain through an entire lifetime. Benefits from a Focus on Learning Music Enjoy a variety of benefits, and study music at the same time. Direct experience is the best way to understand how concentration music can improve mental endurance. Individuals often wonder at this point if there is a difference in the type of music used for the following purposes: • Music for studying • Brain power music • Learning music • Music for exam The first important consideration involves the musical form itself, and the second consideration involves the background of the individual. All children experience music as an auditory experience, and this is true for written music as well as music with little or no musical notation. Concentration Music For Studying For the purposes of understanding the different elements at play when studying music for concentration, the two primary forms of music available are categorized as either written or oral. However, there is a significant amount of overlap between these two categories. For the purpose of using music to focus on learning, notation is a secondary device used primarily for documenting musical memories. Music to Study, and the Studying Playlist Instrumental music presents unique intellectual challenges, and it demands a high degree of coordination between the eyes, the ears and the hands. It does not take long to study music before obtaining benefits. Vocal music attracts people because the human voice has universal appeal. Selecting the right music to study usually involves listening with concentration to various elements including dynamic range, texture, counterpoint, harmony and rhythm. Research on studying music for concentration provides the basis for a school curriculum that helps students to focus on learning math and science by learning music first. The results are impressive. For example, a long study of music can help students get accepted into medical schools. It has also been linked to improved performance in the following areas: • Increased focus on learning • Pattern recognition • Doing homework • Exam preparation • College math • University applications • Study skills Instrumental music often relies heavily on musical notation, which is the foundation for abstract thinking and pattern recognition. Many professionals started their careers by enrolling in a program to study music. These successful professionals subsequently perceived the value of studying music for intellectual endurance, and they applied these skills to business writing, problem-solving, computer work and doing homework. Future professionals can develop a variety of transferable skills through: • Concentration music • Music for studying • Music for exams • Intellectual endurance • Business writing • Problem-solving • Computer work • Research and study skills Different areas of the brain light up and become active during a positive listening experience. This is why the most important consideration when developing a musical playlist is to use a musical style that is received with positive attention. Here is a recommended musical studying playlist that combines different forms of concentration music for studying from around the world: • Traditional African drumming patterns • Beethoven violin concerto • Classical Indian ragas • Meditation chants • Chopin piano music Concentration Music for Working These musical forms are effective learning tools, but they also generate good results as concentration music for working. Employees who use brain power music on the job experience less fatigue and enjoy a higher morale than employees in workplaces where music is not utilized. Born in Salzburg, he showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court, but grew restless and traveled in search of a better position. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death. He wrote more than 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence is profound on subsequent Western art music. Ludwig van Beethoven composed his own early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote: "Posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years". MUSIC COMPOSITION LESSON | How to create your own unique sound
WATCH MY FREE EAR TRAINING VIDEO SERIES:: https://www.TheMusicalEar.com LESSON NOTES: - When working at your craft, avoid spending weeks & months on one song. - Instead, compose a new song every day. - Set yourself a '5 week challenge' - each day spend at least 20 minutes creating a new piece of music from scratch. - Inspiration doesn't last forever. I believe you should finish the writing of your music while the inspiration is still there. Otherwise you'll start to undo all of the feeling you captured during that inspired sitting. - Composition & mixing are two separate stages. Don't waste your inspired composition time making mixing decisions. Mixing is objective and can be done another day, by you, or someone else. Most top producers focus on the composition, and then pass off the music to someone else to mix later. - Avoid using commercially available synths and samples. Using the same sounds as everyone else means that you sound the same as everyone else. So instead, consider recording your own sounds, using a recorder. The microphone I use and swear by, is the zoom h4n, and can be bought on amazon here: MICROPHONE - Zoom H4N Recorder: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UK7G3UO/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00UK7G3UO&linkCode=as2&tag=themusear0d-20&linkId=VQZGRVIPGA7JEIDW This is an affiliate link, which means I get a commission if you buy through this link. ------------------------------------------------------------- EAR TRAINING: You can take my FREE ear training video course - 4 of my best videos showing you how to play music by ear. You will further expand your knowledge of harmony and melody and expand your knowledge of scales, chords, and rhythms. This music composition course is designed to take you from a strong review of level 3 topics—the standard deceptive resolutions of V7, classical and contemporary analysis techniques, polychord voicings, non-chord tones, approach tones, and approach tone harmonization—to topics like deceptive resolutions of dominant function harmony, contiguous dominant patterns, modal melody and harmony, hybrid voicings, quartal and quintal harmony, exotic scales, 12-tone technique, minimalism and other important twentieth century compositional techniques. We will review the rhythmic elements of Indian, Latin American, and African music and delve into the musical intricacies of the music of Indonesia, China, Japan, and Korea. We will also continue the unique feature of blending and exploring both traditional and contemporary harmony in order to give you a historical understanding of current topics. Music Theory and Composition 4 also features a topic called "Rhythm Jam" that will introduce you to many new and exciting rhythmic concepts such as nested tuplets, the Fibonacci series, metric modulation, hemiola, phase, Jahlas, and additive rhythm. Through forum questions you and your classmates will engage in discussions about musical creativity, craft, and inspiration. Each week you will be asked to engage with your classmates and instructor as you work your way through the topics. Included in each topic are a number of activities and exercises designed to help you more thoroughly experience and understand the material presented. Each week there will be a composition assignment, including many which will give you the opportunity to practice writing to short film cues. By the end of the course, you will be able to: Compose and notate your own musical ideas using advanced concepts Construct advanced harmonies and melodies and apply them to your writing Learn how to apply advanced musical concepts to your own writing Apply advanced theoretical analysis to contemporary music and traditional classical music

A Hero's Journey - Original Composition Inspired by Joe Hisaishi
This is a piece I wrote inspired by my favorite contemporary composer, Joe Hisaishi. Joe Hisaishi is primarily known as a film composer, writing for Studio Ghibli films and for award-winning director, Hayao Miyakazi. His musical themes are unforgettable and have a beautiful, unique writing style. I did my best to emulate that style in this piece, while adding a bit of my own originality to it. I hope you like it!

Music Theory: Intro To Part-Writing
In this video we introduce the concept of "part-writing," or composing music in a 4-part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choral style where each voice follows a pleasing, singable linear path (voice leading) while vertical aggregates of notes (chords) adhere to vocal ranges and common practice doublings, spacing, etc. When this practice is followed, most of the music will look similar to typical church hymns. Although the video refers to specific examples found in a standard harmony text, what is presented here may be applied universally. [Topic 11]

An unedited video of me going through the full composition/production process for a short and simple TV style cue. This is just to show some people what the process is like for me, and demystify the notion of composing. It's fairly simple really! Hopefully this is interesting and helpful to some of you! If you don't like the cue, I'm sorry :) That's not the point of the video.

GCSE Music Composition - Andante in A Minor (piano)
This is my first GCSE Music composition created using Sibelius software. It was originally meant for violin(s) with a piano accompaniment but I didn't know much with stringed instruments so I stuck to just a piano solo. I tried to mostly stick with the baroque style of music, but also ended up including classical devices such as crescendo's instead of using terraced dynamics to prove the variety of devices I can use. In the A section, the piece starts of in 4/4 time with a melody centered around triads and the circle of fifths whilst the left hand plays an Alberti bass (I-V-III-V pattern). It is supported with mordants and triplets to add complexity. The B section comprises of an increase in tempo and with one of the stave with double the note value of the other. More varied dynamics are included and the melody is a bit more chromatic. It finishes with a I chord followed by a VII chord to make the transition to the next section. The final section is basically a recapitulation of the A section, but with added turns and different pitching to differ between them. There is also a build up to a dramatic ending which concludes the piece. I thought this might be helpful as an example work to anyone else taking GCSE music, as well as giving me an excuse to upload this =p Also the playback line seems out of time.
