Jay explains how Oracle Scheduler supports recurring schedules, job dependencies and incompatibilities, parallel execution of “sub” jobs, throttling and prioritization, and targeting of jobs to machines during time windows. He also explains the integration of ESS with SOA and scheduling concepts. Then, Jay does a short demo to show you how you can schedule a composite.

Are you overwhelmed with scheduling jobs? Does your administration have Server Access, or are they challenged with scheduling jobs without the needed access? With Oracle Scheduler, you can create, run, and manage jobs. Many types of jobs can be scheduled to run in a frequent manner depending on the time chosen. You can run jobs on a weekly, daily, monthly, yearly or real time. There is a wide array of jobs that can be created. All the jobs need a prior creation of the underlying task they are to be processing. A couple of examples: - Any kind of business rule must be created before the job can be scheduled - Data/Metadata import/export jobs must be created before the job can be scheduled. Any import/export will be read/pushed to the Inbox/outbox under Overview, Actions, Inbox/Outbox explorer - Application mappings must be created before using Cube map function to move data from one plan type to another which is found under “Data Maps” - Valid intersections reports job must be created under Application, Setup before this type of job can be created Good news is that all the job creations are easy to build as they are on the same user inter-phase under “Application” This demonstration will provide an example of creating a refresh database job and scheduling it to run on the same time on a daily bases.
