The proportion (size) of the frames that you are wearing need to balance (face and frame) unlike face shape that contrast. Aaron illustrates the rules-of-thumb for frames for specific face shapes with examples as well as demonstrates balancing proportion: Round faces need frames that are wider than tall to elongate your face Square faces / jaw need rounder and softer frames to lengthened and soften the natural angularity Oval shapes need symmetrical and not too structure frames to maintain natural balance Heart / diamond shaped face can get away with pretty much anything

Between the two, the contact lenses and the glasses, they are like alternatives. People used to glasses will prefer glasses and people used to contact lenses would prefer contact lenses. Each of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. Glasses have the advantage that you can take it off and put it on any time you want. There is the advantage that you never end up with infections. The disadvantage of glasses is that they give a distortion of figure at the edge of the glasses and these glasses sit on your nose and they can be a source of discomfort and ofcourse cosmetically speaking glasses may not be a good option. Whereas contact lenses have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. The contact lenses have the advantage that when you put it on to your eye it gives you the most natural vision possible, much better than what the glasses will be giving. There is no problem of glare which can be seen with the glasses. On the other hand you need to take very good care of contact lenses which you don’t need to do with glasses. Here you can take it off in the evening and put it on in the morning and you need to keep the contact lens solution to keep cleaning the contact lenses meticulously. So each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The choice between contact lenses and glasses would purely depend upon each individual to choose which advantage or disadvantage they give more importance to.

In my next quest, I’m attempting to make a pair of prescription eyeglasses for myself, starting from their natural sources. With some guidance from Dr. Lewis Dartnell, I collected sand, limestone, and hardwood ashes to melt down into the glass. More than six months in the making, we take you behind the scenes at Laramy-K Optical to show you everything that goes into making uncut lenses, both conventional and freeform, from ordering all the way to shipping. We also take a look at AR (anti-reflective coating) application including spin-coated and dip-coated hard coat layers. Now, just to be clear, this isn’t a glossy, “look at our fancy robots and white lab coats” type video, because, well, we don’t have those. Laramy-K is old-school. Our goal is to educate and show you the actual craft of lens making. As our Lab Manager, John Larson likes to say, “Optics is craft and should be treated as such.” That’s exactly how we were able to produce the -21 cyl lens you’ll see in the video. The tool was literally handmade for that particular job. You just can’t do that with robots. When you choose a lab like Laramy-K, that’s what you can expect, people willing to go the extra mile for their craft. I hope that shows in the video, but more importantly, as with all our videos, I hope you enjoy it and learn a thing or two along the way. Polarized lenses - now an affordable pair of prescription sunglasses at http://www.visio-rx.com Choosing a polarized lens is not easy. Visio-Rx offers two brands, and this video explains the difference between our entry-level brand, Adnuo®, and our advanced polarized lens, Nupolar®. Both these lenses are of excellent quality, and are guaranteed by Visio-Rx, but there are difference between the two that should be explained. Sun glasses with a special touch - at http://www.visio-rx.com You will not be disappointed! Video text transcript Polarized lenses make seeing much easier in bright and glary conditions. We offer 2 brands of polarized lenses: Adnuo® Standard and NuPolar® by Younger Optics. Which one is right for you? To determine that, let us first explain what makes a good polarized lens. Polarizing efficiency, the amount of glare that is blocked, is the most important characteristic to look for. A thin foil inside the lens is responsible for this polarizing effect. There is a large quality and price difference between various types of polarizing foils and lens production methods. Foil placement is tricky and critical, and needs to be within .4 to .8 mm from the front of the lens for maximum optical clarity. The ability to chemically adhere the polarizing film to the lens and keep from separating is important for the longevity of the lens. Extended exposure to heat can change the color hue and intensity of the lenses, so color stability is crucial to proper long term usability. Let's compare the Adnuo® and NuPolar® lenses. Adnuo® Standard polarized lenses provide a good experience for occasional users at a very affordable price. For intensive users or people who demand the best, we recommend NuPolar® lenses. These are simply a few notches above Adnuo® Standard polarized lenses. Additionally, maximum darkness of standard colors for NuPolar lenses is higher than the maximum for Adnuo. Both NuPolar and Adnuo lenses can be tinted up to 85% darkness for a small fee. Whichever polarizing lens you choose, Visio-Rx fully warrants the quality of these brands. #F18

Subscribe here - https://goo.gl/iAwSQc NOTE: This is not intended for prescription or corrective lenses! This was easier than expected and since I had lenses on hand that were large enough, it went a lot faster than bringing them in and having an optician order new lenses and perform a custom cut for these frames. I liked these Pradas from when I wore prescription eyeglasses so after getting Lasik surgery, I decided to use them as sunglasses. As a recovery diver, I have a lot of sunglasses that I've pulled off the bottom to use as lens donors but I wouldn't hesitate to buy an inexpensive pair of sunglasses to get the right donor lenses. Either way, just pick a pair with lenses large enough and then custom cut them as shown in the video. It was easy, fast and worked out well. Thanks for watching. Email: [email protected]

I always had problems getting my glasses clean before I tried this. Tired of smudges and spots that won't go away? I was. This method works great, the first time you try it, it may not work, so if you have lots of smudges or film on your glasses you will want to do it 2-3 times the first time. This week we cover how to identify eyeglass lens materials. We examine glass, polycarbonate, Trivex, Tribrid, CR-39 and two high-index materials, 1.67 and 1.74. Opticians sometimes need to identify lens materials when finishing eyeglass lenses. Optician training includes practice on determining material for proper lens edging. Lens finishing lab equipment will require the proper setting to edge a lens. Here we cover the feel, sound, smell and look of various eyeglass lens materials and how-to identify them. Proper frame choice can be more important than even lens material index when looking to obtain, the thinnest, most aesthetic, and functional lens, particularly for high power prescriptions. It is also important to get the right measurements to the lab. We’ll show you what to look out for in doing both. Learn More: https://opticianworks.com/ People too often think lens thickness is all about material index and tend to overlook the importance of frame selection. Frame size, frame PD relative to patient PD, and frame shape are all crucial in getting the thinnest, most aesthetic, and functional lens, particularly for high power prescriptions. It is also important to get the right measurements to the lab. We’ll show you what to look for in choosing a frame, how to send a frame trace for a free-form uncut and a quick review of how to take the proper box measurements your lab will need to produce the best possible lens. Everything you need to know to order prescription lenses online. Presented by iGlass Underground and it's sister company, Sunglass Underground: https://www.sunglassunderground.com Hey, it’s Emily from the Sunglass Underground and our sister company, iGlass Underground. Today I’m going to show you how to order clear prescription lenses for your eyeglasses in just 2 or 3 minutes; and save $200 to $300 dollars! You can order clear lenses at sunglassunderground.com or iglassunderground.com by going to “Shop Lenses” on the menu; and choosing “Prescription Clear Lenses.” Ordering prescription lenses from us is super-easy. We make the finest prescription lenses for every brand! So, buy a pair of glasses you love, make sure they fit well, and then get your lenses from our amazing lab, at prices that are 50 to 70% less than retail! Let’s take a look. First, choose the type of lenses you need: Single Vision or Progressive. A Single Vision lens has one type of correction or “power” over the entire lens. A Progressive lens, sometimes called a No-Line Bifocal, has three optical powers in one lens. Since many people need one strength of lens for seeing close-up, like reading, and another strength of lens for distance vison, like driving, the Progressive lens is the perfect solution. It blends your close-up, mid-range and distance-vision needs all into one seamless lens. And, all of our Lumina lenses use the most advanced digital technology. Let’s choose the Lumina Progressive Elite 4K, the most advanced progressive lens on the market today. Next, we need to choose the lens material. There are four choices. Polycarbonate is tough and impact resistant and about 25% thinner than conventional plastic. Trivex is also thinner than conventional plastic and even stronger than polycarbonate, but it’s main advantage is: it’s ultra-clear! with an optical clarity rating about 40% higher than polycarbonate and other materials. 1.67 is thinner than Polycarbonate and Trivex. For strong prescriptions that are plus or minus 5, or stronger, it’s a good choice. 1.74 is the thinnest lens material. If you have a really strong prescription, this might be the best choice for you. I’m going to choose the Lumina Trivex lenses, because I want them ultra-clear. No matter which material you choose, they all come with our Premium Anti-reflective Coating. Next, enter your frame type. Just choose the photo that matches your glasses. Mine is “semi-rimless”. Now, we need to get 3 things from you: your glasses, your prescription and your PD measurement. And we make all of that really easy too! How will you send us your glasses? We can send you our pre-paid mailer. Or, you can send them yourself if you’re in a rush. Let’s choose, “Send me your pre-paid mailer.” Next, we’ll need a copy of your prescription. You can upload a photo of it, email it to us, or send it with your glasses. I don’t have it right now, so let’s choose, “I’ll send it with my glasses.” The last thing we need is your PD measurement, which stands for “Pupillary Distance”. This is the distance between your eyes, and you can usually get this measurement from your eye doctor. If you don’t have it, don’t worry. Just click on “How to Measure Your PD” at the bottom of our Home page, and we’ll show you a few easy ways to get it. Your PD can be one number or two numbers. I have one number: 58, so I’ll enter it here. And that’s it! You just saved $200 to $300 dollars! This is Emily, from the Sunglass Underground, where, “The more you know about lenses, the better we look!™”

Finally, a video dedicated to my contacts and the way I care for them. I meant for this to be informative to those who are new to contacts and would like to know how to care for them as well as those who want to know what lenses I wear. Also, thank you all for being patient with me because ya girl finally finished her finals and I am now able to finally put out more videos! -I want to note that I do LOVE my natural eye color, however, clear contacts aren't easily accessible and I love experimenting with different looks. Therefore I find colored contacts to be a win-win. EDIT: please see an optometrist for further information, I can only provide insight on my personal experience. I know there will be people who think their eyes are perfect, however, that's what I thought too, but now I'm informed that I have slight astigmatism. Please be informed by professionals if you have questions about fitting and what contacts will be best for you. If you plan on wearing colored lens, you will need to schedule an appointment for your optometrist so they can properly fit you and prescribe you to them. A: You can carry around a travel size of the rub/no rub solution, take out the contact from the eye and re moisturize them. Or you can buy eye drops specifically for contact lenses. Q: Is it okay to sleep in them? A: From personal experience, when I sleep with lenses in my eyes, my eyes become extra dry and irritated. I just recommend taking them out at the end of the day and if you're lazy, keep a spare lens case and solution by your bed so you don't have to walk all the way to the bathroom to do so. Q: Do you put on contacts before or after makeup? A: I always put my contacts in before because I can't see without them. Don't worry if makeup gets in your eye because you can always use eye drops or solution to clear the residue out. However, some people who purchase non prescription lenses prefer to apply the lenses afterward. Q: How long can contacts last throughout the day before feeling uncomfortable? A: Honestly, it depends on your own body. Some have drier eyes than others. I've gone through days where I wore my contacts for 16 hours and they didn't feel dry. But if you're concerned about the comfortability then I would limit the use to about 8-10 hours. Q: How often should I put my contacts in solution? A: AFTER YOU WEAR THEM/THE END OF THE DAY! PLEASE REMEMBER TO RINSE OUT THE LENS CASE AFTER EVER USE TO DECREASE GERM BUILDUP Affiliate Codes I know y'all want to save some money and I'm here to help you out! ~Sigma Beauty - use code 'ThatsSoYin' for 10% off - http://sigma-beauty.7eer.net/c/395395/146780/2835 Film: Canon Rebel T6i Edit:iMovie Business Inquires: [email protected]

Watch our new video: DIY — How to Find the Proper Lens Strength for Your New Eyeglasses https://youtu.be/JnKZv55sJgM Hello and welcome to the TranslatorsCafe.com Channel! In this video I am going to explain how to clean your eyeglasses or sunglasses with or without anti-reflecting and oleophobic coating. Many people clear lenses of their glasses like this: they exhale onto their lenses and then wipe the fog off with a dirty piece of cloth. In a couple of months their plastic lenses are damaged and much to the joy of opticians they order a new pair of glasses in less than a year. When 10 years ago I started wearing reading glasses every day, I did not know how to clean them. I saw many products for cleaning and even tried several of them until I found the best way to clean my eyeglasses without scratching them — to wash them. It should be noted that when I made a research before starting making this video, I realized that the idea is not new and that many people clean their glasses this way! The first thing: never ever dry your lenses with paper towels, which contain wood fibers that can scratch your lenses. Also, never use even 100% cotton material, which can also be filled with dust, which contain abrasive particles. Although you can use special cleaning solutions, don’t do it if you don’t want to waste your money. The cost of water, drop of isopropyl alcohol and a drop of dishwasher liquid is almost zero comparing to the cost of cleaning solutions. Just wash away dust from your lenses with warm water. Then apply dishwasher liquid to both sides of the lens and rub them gently. Rinse with tap water, then do a final rinse with distilled water. The distilled water is necessary if your tap water is hard. Dry then with an air blower or with a compressed gas duster. Your lenses will be clear and clean with no scratches. So, here are the steps: Wash your hands to remove grease from your fingers. Rinse your eyeglasses with warm water to wash away dust from your lenses. Put just a little bit of dish soap between your fingers. Dish soap is designed to remove oily and greasy residue from your dishes. This is what you want to do to your glasses! You want to remove grease! Apply the soap thoroughly with your fingers in circular motions on both sides of the lenses. You can also continue applying the soap onto the rest of the frame, including the temples, bridge and nose pieces. Rinse your glasses under warm water, which will remove the soap. Do not use your fingers while rinsing. If your tap water is hard, that is, it contains dissolved minerals of calcium and magnesium, then you will need to rinse your glasses in the distilled water. After rinsing, shake or tap your glasses against your knee to remove water drops. Now use an air blower or compressed gas duster and blow all water that remained after tapping. If you used distilled water, blowing is not necessary. Water will dry without any traces of salts on the glass. All glasses and sunglasses often come with a little cloth. Opticians put this little cloth with one reason: they want you to come to them more often! Any cloth and especially paper towels and any other paper products will scratch your lenses because they contain abrasive particles. Besides, cloth and paper usually just smear dirt all over the lenses. When you use the compressed gas blower, press its trigger gently because it can “spit” liquid in the gas stream. If this happens, you will have to repeat cleaning with soap and water. You can wipe any residual water only from lens edges. A note about alcohol. Some people say alcohol can remove lens coatings and leave a fogged lens. I used isopropyl alcohol to clean particular greasy lenses and never noticed any problem. Isopropyl alcohol is also used in commercially available pre-moistened lens cloth. The same technique can be used to clean camera lens filters used when taking pictures with a DSLR camera. Wash them with dishwasher detergent, then rinse with running water, and then do a final rinse with distilled water. After that blow off all drops with an air blower. Unfortunately, this technique cannot be used to clean the front elements of your lenses. 1. Lensometer: The lens prescription is verified from the lab. The optical center of the lens is dotted. This is how we line up the cylinder on correct axis and line up the optical center with the PD given. This allows for the best optics. 2. Tracing: The demo lenses are removed from the frame and placed into the tracer. There is a needle which will follow the frame and a picture of the shape will show up on the screen. 3. Blocking: The PD is entered into the tracer and the center of the lens and the PD are lined up here using the dots from before. A blocker is added to the lens so it can be held into the grinder. 4. Grinding: The trace is loaded into the edger and the lens is placed inside. The machine grinds the lens into the correct shape. 5. Unblocking 6. Safety Bevel: The lens edges can be sharp so a safety bevel is applied to every lens before mounting. 7. Mounting: The finished lenses are inserted into the frame For more information on prescription eyewear, visit Perfect Glasses USA resource center at http://www.perfectglassesusa.com/content/resources
