HTML video tutorial - 82 - html span tag vs div tag

14:36
HTML div tag vs HTML span tag: div tag is a paired tag span tag is a paired tag div tag is a block level tag span tag is a inline level tag Inline tags should exist in context with block level tags. In modern html every html element should be meaningful. h1 indicates heading, p indicates paragraph, b indicates bold etc. we supposed to use right element for right purpose. When there is no meaningful tag present for what we want to achieve then we use div tag. For example there is no tag used to create divisions in the page hence we use div tag. span tag is used to enclose inline contents like text images etc. ======================================================== Follow the link for next video: https://youtu.be/hL93pLKLSLs Follow the link for previous video: https://youtu.be/YwJgtVjG2pg ========= For more benefits & Be up to date =================== Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/chidrestechtu... HTML Basics: 4. Display Types

04:26
https://www.colorcode.io/course/html-basics/display-types So, talking about HTML structure. We looked at the DOM, parent/child relationship. But why is all that so important. Well, let’s look at some real examples. Let’s go to GQ.com - You might start to recognize some of these elements. Here’s probably a small header tag. This might be a p tag. Here’s an image. But how do these elements know how to sit. Or as we call it, how to be rendered. Why is the image on the left and not at the top? If you take this whole block of content and consider to be an individual piece, it’s probably a div container, with a several other elements inside it. Well, here is where we talk about the relationship between elements. If I add two P tags (Paragraphs) to my HTML. What do you think is gonna happen? They sit on top of each other. What if they were A tags (Links)? Now they sit side by side. Why is that? Well the reason for that is something all elements have, the Display type. And it’s different for P and A. Paragraphs are what we BLOCK level elements. That means they take up the entire row. They go all the way to the right. Regardless of how much text is in there. A tags on the other hand, don’t, they take as much of the horizontal space, as they need. Depending on how much text is in them. That’s called an INLINE element. Which to me sound like it is within the line where it belongs. Hmmm Ok!! Another example: div and span. These two are both used as containers for other elements. They help with grouping things together. Here are two DIVs, and here’s two SPANs. So the type of element you choose makes a massive difference in how they get rendered. So let’s now go back to GQ and look at some of those groups together again. HEADER: What do you think these elements are? What about these side panels? Do they look like they’re groups? Yeah that looks like a group, this is another group. What if we could see how these were built? Well, we can. If you’re using Chrome you can right click on an element and Click on Inspect Element. This window will show you every element this page has. If you’re using Safari or FireFox I think you can do the same thing. If you’re using IE, I got nothing for you. Change your browser please. And you can do this to any website in the world. It is a great learning tool just to poke around and see how these big names build their websites. Sometimes it’s crazy what you find in there, sometimes it’s really confusing. But when you recognize something that you know, like a piece of HTML that you’ve used before, it feels kinda cool. That’s it there’s no mystery to it. So spend some time and look around some of the websites you like, Facebook or something. And see how things are structured. You’ll start to notice patterns pretty soon. So to recap, there are Block elements that take up a whole row. There are inline elements that take as much space as they need. Here are 2 crazy things I’ll add to that: 1. These are the most important display behaviors, BLOCK and INLINE, but there are other kinds as well that we will cover soon. 2. you can change the display type of an element using CSS, so a P can become INLINE and a link can become a BLOCK. Confused? Great, that means you’re getting into HTML. But all jokes aside it will make more sense the more you do it. So go ahead and experiment with these a little. Poke around some websites and in the next couple of videos we’ll make an actual meaningful page together.

Display settings (block, inline-block, inline, and flex) - Web design tutorial

02:55
In Webflow (and web design generally), the display setting you set an element determines its behavior in a layout. Generally speaking, elements either stack on top of each other (vertically) or lay out side by side (horizontally), depending on what display setting is used. The beauty is that you can change the display of any element. In this video, we’ll be covering the five display settings available: 1. Block 2. Inline-block 3. Inline 4. Flex 5. None ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflowapp http://facebook.com/webflow

How to Use Display: Block in CSS

00:52
Follow this step by step guide to learn the basic concept of Block tags used in HTML and their properties Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Block Tags are widely used in HTML designing and creating interactive web pages. When we insert a Block tag in a source code with an Image or Text, it will automatically add margin and space to it. Due to this property, an Image or a text which is inserted in the Block tag is displayed identically on the web page. Here we will teach you how to block tags in a HTML and how it will appear on the web page. Step # 1 -- Insert an Image Tag In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to block tags on a HTML page. Block tags are basically same as the inline images or text. However, a block tag takes vertical space on both sides when displayed on a page. In order to insert block tags, open up the source code of the HTML page where you have already inserted the inline tags on Text editor. Now, move over to the "Image" tag and add the code as Style = "display: block" Add this code between the Image source and the closing tag. Step # 2 -- Save the Changes In the next step, save your changes and refresh your browser. You will notice a cloud image appearing separately from the text as a block on the page. Step # 3 -- Using the Block Property of Tags Next, go back to the source code and move over the "Div" tag of the inline text and replace it with "Block" tag. Step # 4 -- Save your Changes and Display the Page Once you have replaced the tags, save your changes and refresh the browser in order to view your selected text as a block tag on the page.

Div blocks - Web design tutorial

03:38
The div block is the most basic and versatile element used in website design and development. To a certain extent, a div block can be whatever you want it to be. For example, buttons, containers, and sections are all just div blocks with extra properties. A div block can also be used to create space or dividers, but the most common use for a div block is to group other elements together. In this video, we'll show you how to: 1. Add 2. Style 3. Nest 4. Duplicate Div blocks, plus show you how to use them as spacers (though we don't recommend it). ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflowapp http://facebook.com/webflow

css id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class

06:22
css3 id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class in css css benefits of using class over id, css3 benefits of using id over class, html id vs class, css id vs class, html class vs id, css class vs id, The Difference Between ID and Class, id vs class tutorial, difference between id and class tutorial,The Difference Between class and id HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Tutorials , lessons with examples. Techsith.com id vs class more of a design related question and its a very important one. Overall you will be using more classes then ids. id: think of element that is unique. there is only one id per element. your html validateor would throw and en error if you do use it which means you will not be reusing the same style anywhere else. all the main containers in your HTMLs you should use id because you are not going to repete them . That doesnt mean that you cant use class there. advantage of using is for is as your main namespace. for css this way you can segregate work so your css doesn't messup. for example #leftContainer .button { color:red} which mean all the botton in the left containers are red. class: you can used them freely. any common styles you can define as class. as you can have multiple classes for the same element. and mix and match of the classes will make your css small . for example you can create two divs with same color but diffrent font sizes. Dont forget the attributes. actually id and class are attributes wich special meaning. and you can create your own custome attributes. like myattr. Platforms like angularjs uses them freely. overall i thin its better to use classes then ids especially when you working in a team envirement where you are responsible for a partial html . using id can be riskier if someone else is using the same id in the other part of the html . in css id has higher priority than class for example .....

HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language HTML describes the structure of Web pages using markup HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages HTML elements are represented by tags HTML tags label pieces of content such as heading, paragraph, and so on. What is CSS? CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed on screen, paper, or in other media CSS saves a lot of work. It can control the layout of multiple web pages all at once External stylesheets are stored in CSS files Browsers do not display the HTML tags, but use them to render the content of the page. What is Javascript? JavaScript is a programming language that allows you to implement complex things on web pages. Every time a web page does more than just sit there and display static information for you to look at , Right from displaying timely content updates, or interactive maps, or animated 2D/3D graphics, or scrolling video jukeboxes, etc. You can bet that JavaScript is probably involved. It is the third layer of the layer cake of standard web technologies, two of which (HTML and CSS). Music: http://www.purple-planet.com
