How to do fashion sketches step by step

06:34
I'm Ioana Avram, fashion designer. Welcome to my Fashion teaching channel where you will find design videos starting from basic, easy level ( for beginners ) until advanced level. Follow my advices regarding the hand draw: anatomy studies, fashion poses, figures and croquis, learn about style and craft, fabrics and how to create garments. I love painting and sketching, I like fabrics and fashion magazines and especially pencil, ink and watercolor technique. I believe anyone can draw after practicing a while because all you need is work, work, work and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. :) I made this channel to prove that it's ok to have talent, but not necessary. Through my one of a kind technique you will see how easy it will be to draw from now on. You will learn more about fashion and everything related to it: composition, shading, textures, different techniques and especially learn how to draw fashion sketches all by yourself. I will post new videos each Thursday so don't forget to subscribe. I will do my best to answer all comments. Ask anything you want, and feel free to leave any suggestions for future videos! All are taken into consideration. For more info visit my website fashion-teaching.com. Thank you and take care! FAQ: 1. What materials do you use for your drawings? ****************************************************** I use Toison d'Or or Koh-I-Noor pencils ( from 4B to 8B), Copic markers, Derwent coloured pencils, Canson paper or Fabriano paper, Factis eraser, metal pencil sharper and Winsor and Newton watercolors and ink. 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? ****************************************************** Yes, I studied design and fashion design ( for 4 years) at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj, Romania, Europe. I had a scholarship in Katowice, Poland and another one in Coburg, Germany and a course attended with Gary Tu - a well-known fashion illustrator from Taipei, Taiwan. 3.Where do you get your inspiration? ****************************************************** Basically I am very interested in any image and text that could grab my attention: fashion albums, history of art, books I read, movies I see...In fact, i will share below all my sources of inspiration. Find all my inspirational folders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/397137153755499/photos/ 4. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? ****************************************************** Definitely I would recommend Gottfried Bammes' Anatomy, Barcsay's Anatomy and David Downton's illustrations that you will find here: http://www.daviddownton.com/ and here: http://instagram.com/daviddownton 5. How long have you been drawing? ****************************************************** 30 years ago some desperate parents interdicted their 3 years old child to use pencils to draw on their house's inner walls :). Due to this, and to the fact that all pencils, brushes and markers were forbidden, the child found another way to express: all chocolate received was hidden and used to "decorate" the walls when all other tools were not available.30 years later, here I am, willing to tell a story on every wall there is. Not with chocolate, like I used to :), but in watercolors, as you can find on my shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bijuterra. Thank you, and hope to enjoy my illustrations and videos from your comfortable armchair, having a cup of warm milk in your hand and smiling. 6. How can I send my drawing to you? ****************************************************** For any personal advice you can send me your illustrations or questions here: [email protected] and I will reply. Thank you! 7. Nice to meet you, I’m Heidi. I teach fashion designers like you the real world skills you *actually* need to learn to succeed in this cutthroat industry. (You know, all the stuff you don’t learn at fashion school.) I’ve worked as a contract designer for over a decade and run SuccessfulFashionDesigner.com. I’ve been able to make a healthy living doing work I love in fashion. But I got started just like you, one step at a time. It began with some embarrassing hand sewn dresses and fashion sketches that would make a 3-year-old’s artwork look like a masterpiece. Then, things changed. I learned how design was done on a large scale. I learned how to get things into production. And I learned all the skills I wish I knew when I was first starting out. Now, I dedicate most of my time teaching you all of that. This content is hard to find anywhere else (because in fashion, people keep secrets), so I decided to create it...and give most of it away for free. Want more than what you find on YouTube? Some of the best institutions that offer this course include National Institute of Fashion Technology (Delhi), Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology (Bangalore), Symbiosis Institute of Design (Pune), and National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad). Fashion your future: Think more like a fashion designer | Suzi Vaughan | TEDxQUT

12:26
We live in times of unprecedented, disruptive change and uncertainty and most people find it challenging to thrive in those circumstances. If ‘design thinking’ is the new black, then thinking like a fashion design may just be the next big thing! This talk takes the idea of design thinking and translates it into a series of very practical tips that you can employ yourself, every day to help you think more optimistically in times of uncertainty and ambiguity. Professor Suzi Vaughan has settled (for now) in Brisbane, Australia having studied, lived and worked in Europe and Asia. After graduating from St Martins School of Art in London with a Ba Hons in Fashion, she started her professional career as a fashion designer, later moving into fashion education. Since 2011 she has been part of the executive team of a large Australian university. With over thirty years’ experience of design practice and teaching, she has become an advocate for the power and potential of design thinking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Gihan Amarasiriwardena: What Engineering Can Teach Fashion Design - SXSW V2V 2014

14:14
Across industries, linear design processes result in products that are distant from customer needs. Without direct insights from real people, it becomes nearly impossible to improve the consumer experience. What if we could learn from tech’s cyclical design process? Common in engineering, iterative design allows ideas to be validated in the real world, resulting in products that truly meet the needs of your audience. From the lab benches of Ministry of Supply, Co-founder and CEO Gihan Amarasiriwardena combines his passion for tech with his eye for fashion, employing a cyclical design process to the development of a new category of menswear: functional and flattering clothing that adapts to the daily activities of the modern man. Hear what it’s like to deviate from a prescribed, linear fashion design process to adopt a tech-inspired process, the importance of having integrated, multi-faceted teams and what the world of fashion can learn from science and technology.

FAQ about Ioana Avram and Fashion Teaching

07:09
You wanted to know more about me. Here are all your questions gathered and my answers. Know the story of my life and career and in the meantime, just enjoy my paintings! Waiting for your new comments each day. I will reply in another new video:) Frequently asked questions: 1. What materials do you use for your drawings? ****************************************************** I use Toison d'Or or Koh-I-Noor pencils ( from 4B to 8B), Copic markers, Derwent coloured pencils, Canson paper or Fabriano paper, Factis eraser, metal pencil sharper or Cretacolor sharpner and Winsor and Newton watercolors and ink. 6. How did you become a fashion designer. ***************************************************** Well I am not really a fashion designer. I am more into drawing and thinking than executing the ideas. I am more of a fashion illustrator and a fashion design and illustration teacher. I love the creative part, I love sketches and thinking but not necessarily actually making my designs. But who knows? Maybe in the future. I am not so much into creating clothes. I think I love more my brushes and papers and watercolors. I love to dream, to create, to imagine sort of things and especially i love fashion illustration. 7. How can I send my drawing to you? ****************************************************** For any personal advice you can send me your illustrations or questions here: [email protected] and I will reply. Thank you! 8. How do I can create a fashion collection? ****************************************************** There is my site here: www.fashion-teaching.com where I teach to my Romanian and foreign students how to draw or paint. The steps are described there, and i have like hundred of posts where you can learn a lot:) Also, please look at my Youtube playlists where i explain the creative part of a collection. 9. Which is your favorite color to create and to use? ****************************************************** My favorite is the purple, lila, lavender family, But this, I think, is obvious, if you take a look at my illustrations. 10. What are the reasons that you usually upload your illustrating video on the Internet? ****************************************************** First, I consider Youtube as a tool for my students. It was very useful for me to upload the lessons and then my students had to reproduce the drawings, all by themselves, at home, as a homework. Then, i realized I had a lot of views, comments and subscribers and now out community online has more than 30.000 members.I started to receive a lot of comments from my "online students" form all around the world and then, the next step was simple:i started to generate content for all the requests. People were interested by my watercolor technique, the fashion sketches and the human anatomy, so I continued to do "how to" tutorials to make all my students happy:)
