How to do fashion sketches step by step

06:34
I'm Ioana Avram, fashion designer. Welcome to my Fashion teaching channel where you will find design videos starting from basic, easy level ( for beginners ) until advanced level. Follow my advices regarding the hand draw: anatomy studies, fashion poses, figures and croquis, learn about style and craft, fabrics and how to create garments. I love painting and sketching, I like fabrics and fashion magazines and especially pencil, ink and watercolor technique. I believe anyone can draw after practicing a while because all you need is work, work, work and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. :) I made this channel to prove that it's ok to have talent, but not necessary. Through my one of a kind technique you will see how easy it will be to draw from now on. You will learn more about fashion and everything related to it: composition, shading, textures, different techniques and especially learn how to draw fashion sketches all by yourself. I will post new videos each Thursday so don't forget to subscribe. I will do my best to answer all comments. Ask anything you want, and feel free to leave any suggestions for future videos! All are taken into consideration. For more info visit my website fashion-teaching.com. Thank you and take care! FAQ: 1. What materials do you use for your drawings? ****************************************************** I use Toison d'Or or Koh-I-Noor pencils ( from 4B to 8B), Copic markers, Derwent coloured pencils, Canson paper or Fabriano paper, Factis eraser, metal pencil sharper and Winsor and Newton watercolors and ink. 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? ****************************************************** Yes, I studied design and fashion design ( for 4 years) at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj, Romania, Europe. I had a scholarship in Katowice, Poland and another one in Coburg, Germany and a course attended with Gary Tu - a well-known fashion illustrator from Taipei, Taiwan. 3.Where do you get your inspiration? ****************************************************** Basically I am very interested in any image and text that could grab my attention: fashion albums, history of art, books I read, movies I see...In fact, i will share below all my sources of inspiration. Find all my inspirational folders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/397137153755499/photos/ 4. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? ****************************************************** Definitely I would recommend Gottfried Bammes' Anatomy, Barcsay's Anatomy and David Downton's illustrations that you will find here: http://www.daviddownton.com/ and here: http://instagram.com/daviddownton 5. How long have you been drawing? ****************************************************** 30 years ago some desperate parents interdicted their 3 years old child to use pencils to draw on their house's inner walls :). Due to this, and to the fact that all pencils, brushes and markers were forbidden, the child found another way to express: all chocolate received was hidden and used to "decorate" the walls when all other tools were not available.30 years later, here I am, willing to tell a story on every wall there is. Not with chocolate, like I used to :), but in watercolors, as you can find on my shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bijuterra. Thank you, and hope to enjoy my illustrations and videos from your comfortable armchair, having a cup of warm milk in your hand and smiling. 6. How can I send my drawing to you? ****************************************************** For any personal advice you can send me your illustrations or questions here: [email protected] and I will reply. Thank you! 7. Tips to draw better a fashion sketch in 4 minutes

05:00
The tutorial for today: Tips to draw better a fashion sketch in 4 minutes. We start with the construction axes. Don't over draw them. Just a simple sketch will do.This simple axes will help you and they will be a small guidance for your future costume.Remember that if the shoulder axis goes up, the hip line will balance the figue and it will be sketched in the oposite direction.Use soft lines and the use strong strokes that will create your costume. This is an exercise about composition, accents, balancing the lines in a fashion costume, it is an exercise that will help you be more creative, very fast, As a tip: use a music playlist and depending on the music, you can accelerate your lines, after the beat. There is no use in drawing the details, all you have to do is to have an expressive line, very modulated. For the second fashion sketch start, as previously, with the axes. Then add lines, dots and surfaces to your costume, to make in even more creative and interesting to be watched. A drawing is perfect when you have multiple line sizes - and these you can obtain when you press softer or harder, when you can add pression to your pencils and control the lines. Another tip is to keep your eyes half closed to see where you need to put the accents in a fashion sketch. If the sketch has almost the same "color" let's say, it is time to have areas where the line is stronger or softer, where you have empty spaces or black surfaces. These areas are those where the eye of the viewer stops and reflects, where the eye takes a break. When drawing more figures on a single paper sheet, try to think of all of them as a unit, as a whole. Each fashion sketch can be treated as an individual composition, but also the full paper should be in harmony, having the perfect composition. See those black areas that I underline sometimeS? Those are the equilibrium of each composition and they help you create a rythm to your drawings. At then end, take a look at all my drawings on this page and try to understand which technique I applied and why. The first model is feminine and it has a curved soft line. The scond one has the accents put on the upper side, having big volumes in the shape of a pair of earrings and jewelry for the neck. The third one is more elastic, nervous and it has a bigger volume the the preivous sketches. Here the contrast between the soft lines and those with accents is bigger. The costume is composed by 3 areas that are round: the two volumes on the shoulders and the lower part- the skirt. The last one has a more masculine approach. The lines are bold, strong and they tend to have angles. They are more rigid and they look geometric somehow. The last figure is the accent of this composition. The line is crazy and unexpected, compared to the previous strokes. Try to do this exercise at home, by copying my sketches and then by inventing new ones. Good luck!

How designers turn inspiration into fashion collections

05:11
How designers turn inspiration into fashion collections: In my previous videos, we talked about how to create a fashion collection. We will do more exercises now to better understand the steps of any collection. Apart from the text part of any documentation - the phase when you read a lot about the topic you are interested in- there is the visual documentation. In this case, I took another image from a book of mine and use it as a starting point for some sketches. How to actually get inspired by an image? Try to decompose the image into elements. See what are the definitory elements that compose the image. In this case, you could use elements like: the pattern with stripes, the color, the sleeves and the lower part of the costume, the structures you see in the area of eyes and those elements near the ears. Use them separately, combine them, use them as modules: big or small, rotate them and so on.I used the shapes near the ears and I placed them in the center of my costume. I imagined those shapes will have holes inside, so that you can see the skin or the layers of my costume. You can use the elements and place them in other parts of your costume. For example, some sleeves could become scarfs or you could undo them and sew them again in stripes to create a rhythm to your future garment. If you used a lot of volume for the upper part of your costume, try to simplify the rest, there is no need to over-work the whole costume. As about the drawing style, use details and a black marker to add the contrast here and there, where you feel the need. For the second drawing, turn the page upside down and get inspired. Even if the elements are the same, they position will inspire you to see even more in the photo, to discover inspiration there where you did not know it exist. See how used the "let's say glasses" from my source of inspiration and used them as earrings.Mix the elements and play with them in unusual combinations. When sketching, there is no need to think of the human body. You can draw it only when it helps, if not, the costume will be enough. Use simple lines and add color because this will help you visualize the outfit. Also, write down your ideas regarding the colors or textures to be used in the final work. And now sit back and see how I used another image to finish my small collection inspired by African art.As I previously mentioned, try to really sketch after the photos I used and send me your collection by email. My email is: [email protected] Waiting for your sketches and I will come back with a feed-back.Thank you and please don't forget to subscribe if you liked my video.

How to create your own fashion collection

03:32
How to create your own fashion collection: When starting sketching for a new collection, first of all you have to make your research. This means you should carefully study all the aspects fo your source of inspiration. Articles, photo collages, images found on Pinterest, Google or books, photos taken in trips or museums, they all should be placed in a journal because later on they will be part of the design process. The design journal is a creative tool that can be accessed anytime. It is an active source of inspiration for any designer and it serves as a creative kit. These are some inspiring images I found in a book about African art and added them to my journal.I photocopied some pages that will help me explain you how one should think when it comes to creativity. First of all, and the simplest way is to get inspired by the Shape. See the exterior shape of this African sculpture and decompose it in details: see the geometric forms, the patterns, the colors, the textures and so on. I will show you each time what inspired me for a particular area in the costume. Don't think if the result will be a dress or a pullover, a skirt or a coat. Simply don't. Just let it flow and feel the image that gives you inspiration. This is what I do. Tools can also inspire you, For example, this thick marker i am using for the lower part of the outfit. Just play and experiment. As you already noticed, I am using different kind of lines and surfaces to create diversity. The image should look interesting in any part you will look. Imagine that each part of your drawing could be a poster hanged on a wall. This is the limit of the creativity and how you should think your costume. Don't be afraid to be spectacular. The sky is the limit. You will have enough time later to reduce it all and to make your outfit look wearable. For the second sketch, I will get the inspiration from the decorative triangles and also from the texture in the lower part of the African sculpture. I like Copic markers especially because they are very wet and they inspire my hand to be free to move all over the page. When a marker is dry, the lines will be edgy and rigid, you will see.I also like the brush edge that allows me to have fine lines and also a flexible hand. My second favorite is Posca white markers. I just love them because they leave beautiful strong lines on dark surfaces like this one. When using markers, make sure to have a spare paper beneath. The markers will go through your white sheet of paper and they might ruin your drawings underneath. Thank you for watching, and please subscribe just to make sure you will be the first to see my new video.

How and where to find inspiration for your designs

03:22
How and where to find inspiration for your designs I received a lot of comments and emails regarding my new series of videos. I saw that you are interested in the creativity part of a fashion collection and also in the inspiration coming from plants and flowers of all kind. When starting the research, try to find plants that are exotic or uncommon, let's say. Try to skip the tulipes, roses or plants that are quite symmetric or boring or not rich in details. Don't get me wrong, any plant can be beautiful, but when wanting to get inspired, we need more than that.See now what kind of plants inspired me in this floral collection. And now let's get to the creative part. Use simple lines, sketch with transparent layers. I usually start with the pencil but if you feel more comfortable with another tool, go for it. I try to capture as much details as possible. The mistake everybody does is the fact that just looking once at your source of inspiration and then thinking to create something, won't work. You need to constantly observe the details and sketch them and adapt them to your costume. Try to understand how they were made, how th plant evolved and how those beautiful shapes were generated. Then use 2-3 layers of colors that you will mix to create the volume or the dark and shadow parts of your outfit. When you are satisfied, just come over and press harder to obtain black lines that will re-shape the costume. Think of that: when you will later on see the drawings, you should immediately know what was the primary source of inspiration and what you intened with your drawing. The drawing should be as accurate as possible so that later on you will be able to give it to somebody who will actually produce the costume to be worn. For the second sketch, I was inspired by the volumes of the plant you see near my drawing. I kept almost the same colors as the originals and also I added the details that remind the source of inspiration. Now it back and enjoy my drawings! Thank you for watching, and, as always, please subscribe to my channel if you like my videos! Thank you for all your comments, shares and likes and as always, if you need my advice, write me on [email protected]

Out of all the design jobs available, fashion designing happens to be the most phenomenal and versatile one. Here you have the fine opportunity to learn about clothing, accessories and the designs which can be implemented for styling purposes. Fashion designing is quite a lucrative job and is in heavy demand these days. Whether it is Hollywood or Bollywood, fashion designers are very much needed for preparing bewitching and glamorous outfits for red carpet events, parties and other occasions that involve celebrities. The top countries for studying fashion designing include UK, Japan, United States of America, France and Italy. The fashion industry is very competitive. And in order to secure a good job, it is very important for a student to get enough training. He/she should be a creative person with exemplary artistic skills. Also a course in English, business, maths or sewing can be used as a proper foundation. If you are too ambitious, a simple degree might not suffice. Masters degree and certificate programmes are also available so that you can educate yourself enough to start a prosperous and bright career in fashion designing. There are several careers you can find in this field itself. Some include sketchers, cutters and pattern makers, sewers and fit technicians, head designers, specialty designs and of course the trend researchers. Other career opportunities you can explore in the field of fashion include fashion marketing, journalism, public relations, performing arts, photography, management and merchandising. To become a successful fashion designer, it is very important to get a diploma or degree at first. It might be easy to enrol yourself in a decent university, but it is often difficult to pay the course fees since it isnt inexpensive after all. However, there are a couple of big universities that offer scholarships to students who have talent and are keen enough to show some effort. India has also recognized fashion designing recently. How to design a clothing line in 2,5 minutes

02:49
How to design a clothing line in 2,5 minutes. The steps to create a fashion collection are the followings: - first, the research- and for this, i choose the image in the left side of the screen - then, the documentation sketches - this means, i draw the image with as many details as possible. only drawing a thing, you will get to understand it and understand how it was made. when doing this, i feel like capturing its essence When drawing anything, i try to underline the elements that compose the image. In this case, the 3 elements are the followings: the wire cage, the renaissance collar and the small ribbons. Once I have these elements, I know how to draw the source of inspiration. And then, the next step while underlining them again, i think of how to combine them in different outfits. For A figure I used the cage wire to sketch these huge sleeves. Then, the pattern used in the collar was placed on the blouse and the rest, i left simple. Because, as i said in other videos too, it is always nice to have an equilibrium and not to overcrowd the costume. For B figure, the cage was put upside down so that it created a volumetric blouse. The collar pattern - i used it for the lower part of the sleeves. For C figure, I played with the collar and i made it double in size. As about the ribbons that i did not used until now, now it was the moment to exaggerate the volume so, here it is, a huge ribbon as a short skirt. So, the 3 elements, you can compose and combine as you want and as you saw in this video. And now, if you rotate the image, new ideas will come. You can use each element, resize it, make it as a module, big or small - use parts or the whole element. The collar and also the sleeves are made from the renaissance pattern and the skirt was made from wires. This time, the ribbons are smaller, disposed in the middle. As for the 4th element, if you want to consider this too - as an accessory - you can use it in super size, for the hat. Thank you for watching, and, as always, please do not forget to leave me a thumbs up if you liked it. Also, if you want to be the first one to know about my new videos, please subscribe! Thank you and see you next week, same time, same place, here on my fashion teaching channel!

How to design your fashion collection

03:06
How to design your fashion collection: You saw in my previous 2 videos how to create your own fashion collection. First we said you will have to make your creative research. Then, the documentation and the sketching part will follow. After using the A4 paper on landscape format, you should decide now which of your ideas are the best. These ones, we will transpose into visuals on portrait format. The human body will help us imagine even better how the costume looks like. In this phase, you will need to add details, texts if necessary or even pieces of textile materials that will help you see how the actual costume will be.The ideas I sketched in the left part of the screen are more of a guideline that I will use for my final work. Now it's the moment to make the most of your drawing and costume. You will improve it and make it look beautiful and in the meantime, it should be a useful tool for the next step: the construction of your garment in fabrics. The drawing should be as clear as possible. This means, every person that sees it will imagine how the final product will look like. I will do the same for the next sketch, so that you will get used to the process even better. In this stage you will need another source of inspiration: for example, an old anatomy drawing of yours or a photo wit a fashion pose. They will help you to draw correctly the human posture. Add colors and details to your fashion sketch, until you are fully pleased with the result. After doing a lot of sketches you will choose 5 to 10 ideas to represent on the full body, like I did here.Thank you for your likes, comments and shares of my previous 2 videos regarding the subject "how to create your own fashion collection" and please write me if you are interested in a special topic, so that I could create a mini collection on that subject, next time. Also, as an exercise, please use the same source of inspiration as I did and try to sketch a few outfits. Then send them to me and i will reply. My email address is simple: [email protected] Waiting for your drawings and until then, thank you for subscribing to my channel! And now, enjoy the video! Take care until next time.

How to start a fashion collection

04:31
How to start a fashion collection Join my online classes here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FTOnlineClasses This is the third part of the videos regarding the rule of decomposing the source of inspiration into elements. To understand more, please see before the following videos: How to design a clothing line in 2.5 minutes and How to design a clothing line inspired by fabric manipulation For this outfit, once again, I decomposed the elements into beads and rows.First, for the documentary part, i will draw exactly the dress you see in the left part of the screen. When drawing, there is no need to stay too long on a single sketch. It is ok just to suggest the beads and to give the impression of the pearls aligned on the rows. Now that you have the components, just play with them. There are areas where i used the pearls in different sizes and other areas where i used the rows to create the volume. As you will see, there are endless possibilities and you can take this example to rotate the source of inspiration to obtain different outfits. After so many details in a costume, you will need a blank or empty space to have a contrast or a single color leggings that will lead the eye to the beautiful crafting from the upper part of the body. For the second dress, i kept the same principle of playing with details and black areas. The size of the pearls can be adjusted from small to large or the other way round. You can gave extra large spheres for the neck part or very small pearls for the lower part of the costume. And now, just sit back and enjoy the same exercise having different costumes as a starting point for your inspiration. See you next week and until then, please do not forget to either leave me a comment, a thumbs up or subscribe for more. Merry Christmas and have a lovely holiday together with your family! ============================================= If you have questions, please let me know. Kim Taehyung | fashion designer teacher

Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!!! All the clips I used are linked in a comment below because they didn't fit in the description!!! I do not take credit for the clips and the subtitles, I just edit this for fun. If you want to watch the original versions they are all linked in the comment section! I think you probably figured it out already that my one and truly love is Bangtan... but how can I not love them??? From the screaming J-Hope, followed by 4D Taehyung, grampa Suga, mother Jin, Dance Monster Namjoon, illegal maknae Jungkook and the cutest fluffball Jimin.......all have a special place in my heart and I can't describe the joy I feel while watching them do all kinds of stupid stuff, i am like a proud mother ^_^. Kim Taehyung........V......... He is the one that introduced me to BTS and their crazy fandom ARMY. I am so happy I found out about it, because since then my life has been brighter ^_^. This kid.....ah, where should I start. The first thing that caught my attention was his orange hair, and I was like "Who's this dude, I like his hair, I WANT IT!" And then I dug myself into the fandom little by little, watching Bangtan Bombs and clips with him, I fell for his silliness. I love him because he's not afraid of making a fool of himself, even though he's on camera he takes advantage of that and kills his fans with his dorky personality. Plus, he cares so much about the members, he is a good singer and dancer....I freaking adore him. Fluffball of sunshine ^_^ vidder: Ellen tumblr: http://murderervampire.tumblr.com music: Foster the people - Don't stop program: Sony Vegas Pro 12 DISCLAIMER: All the used clips belong to the right owners, I do not own and of them. The editing is for fun and I do not make any profit out of it!!!!!!!!
