James Newton Howard did a fabulous score on this film, this is incredible. He did marvellous job on Dinosaur he’s really a legend

This is better since The Iron Giant. I love it
Ryan Burke (7 days ago)
This was totally thrilling!
Thomas MALET (13 days ago)
I thought ascended ancients were forbidden from interacting in the mortal plane XD. All jokes aside, this movie is way underrated, I get goosebumps every time I watch that scene and listen to that score.

Hoping for a live-action version while I'm still alive
KamilaDalmate (2 months ago)
Krazy K I truly believe that the epic ness of Atlantis can’t be communicated with the same grandeur yet. But Atlantis does deserve a proper second chance
Robert Currie (6 months ago)
Still prefer the planet building scene from Titan AE. The soundtrack makes all the difference.

Xime C. R. (6 months ago)
I love this movie, the only complain I have is the antagonists. It just doesn't make sense, the posibilities of actually finding an ancient civilization with technology and power over the modern standards is so small it's not even funny, why bother with the overused military captain of stealing power and damn the consequences (triggering an active volcano underneath the sea while at the bottom of the sea anyone?). Even as a kid it didn't make sense, it would have been more realistic if the trouble came from the citizens who have been stuck down there for hundreds of years when strangers came and the novelty of it blinds the majority, they even have the excuse of knowing because everyone is so old! The King or a warrior being suspicious and trying to drive the invaders out would be more believeable...
Nnelg (4 months ago)
The antagonists didn't see any of the technology working, so to their eyes the only valuable thing down there was the gem. And the king *did* try to shoo them off, and only humored them for as long as he did because of his daughter.

After the Mayan's 2012, it would be fitting for Roland Emmerich to make a movie about the fall of Atlantis.
Nazrul Hady (7 months ago)
This movie is underrated. Sure its not good as aladdin or hercules, but this and treasure planet is one of my favourites. Wish to how their ended up to make this as a series and treasure planet 2 came up.

You know, I would've thought Milo would technically be Prince (Consort) of Atlantis, since he married in to the bloodline. I guess the King's necklace was a coronation ring.

Here's something interesting to think about ( and something i only just thought of when seeing the stone carving finished) : If the size of the stone correlates to the age of Atlantis' leader when he or she passes.. How old was the person that smallest Stone Face belongs to?
mrzardark (3 months ago)
Well, maybe the smallest stone belongs to a king who could die on the battlefield defending the city-state of invaders (based on the scenes where the stone giants appeared engraved on the walls using the shield). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwCTV7PzA00 (2:28 - Why there is medieval knights there?!) i am sure that Milo's group weren't the first who came to the city searching power... and the last.

Dylan Staats over 1500 years, that's a long reign.
Garick (7 months ago)
Well they did forfot to read and write..
Dylan Staats (7 months ago)
By either of those scales, Kida's father reign lasted for well over a thousand years. He had a lot of time to learn from his mistakes and become a wiser and better king.
Garick (8 months ago)
Maybe it sclaes with prosperity and reputation of the leader associated with sculpture.
Shadowkey392 (8 months ago)
Horribly underrated movie.
Chicken Mike (8 months ago)
This is the most creative way to put up a force field I've ever seen.
Danil Manison (1 month ago)
I think it was mostly because of the fact that the had been no need for the shields, which meant that the sentinels had to get back into place. Notice how in the second movie they had already been standing?
Nicolas Invernizzi (5 months ago)
well...its a ruined city....in its prime im sure they could do it in seconds. its very intresting how they need to clap in order to deploy the shield
Eckskalibur (5 months ago)
Chicken Mike Agreed, up to the point you realize the forcefield making components were under water and needed prep-time to actually get to their positions. Algorithms aside, their timing was fucking lucky and only now do they have their sentinels truly in ready for another forcefield protocol at any moment.
Jordan Sipe (8 months ago)
That is a uneccesecarily complex way to build a force field
Ronald Clarke (7 months ago)
They're using their heart chakras to channel through the golems, the golems anatomy is similar to ours, paired with crystals/gems and bronze...unless its atlantean black magic...then they're stuffed with dead sex slave Chimeras...true story...
B P (8 months ago)
Jordan Sipe just as complex as marriages, when signing some papers at the Town Hall is all that's needed. pretty sure these shield generating robots are as much a cultural thing as a technical requirement
Julie Clark (8 months ago)
Jordan Sipe it's the mystical way an this is a cartoon they will do what they want

Wise One1494 (6 months ago)
the thing i hated was how under rated and unappreciated it was when it was released. this was one of Disney's most serious animated films but was also one of their greatest

Atlantis: The Lost Empire has to be one of my favourite Disney movies of all time.. And sadly underrated too. This scene has to be one of the most epic movie scenes I've ever seen in my life. Even after all these years, I still get goosebumps watching it
MizantropMan (4 months ago)
Wise One1494 I meant the second one, but black hole escape is also epic af now that I think about it and someone even died in a pretty horrific way during that one. We don't see such things anymore.
Wise One1494 (4 months ago)
the black hole escape, escaping the planet b4 it explodes, or both?
MizantropMan (4 months ago)
LuqSkywalker There is also Treasure Planet with it's awesome escape scene.

Kevin Osuna (1 year ago)
this shit is good I'm just saying
Wise One1494 (9 months ago)
seeing as how all these statues had spent centuries submerged and used as walkways and tiny islands they need to move into position. since they r back it will still take time to raise the shield but less now that they r in position
Kevin Osuna (9 months ago)
Starjumper2821 it only took long because stuff like that has not been used in over 8 thousand years kida said knowledge like that was long lost. Plus in the second movie of atlantis the shield did not take to long to activate because atlantis was reborn into its thriving time. In this one it took long because kida was now the power sorce and had the crystals power, she gave the power back and the the machines that activated the shield were not used since the time of the great flooding they had to get into their positions to activate the shield.
Starjumper2821 (1 year ago)
It's certainly dramatic. But if the shield always takes this long to activate, it's almost useless as a defence. A quick Alpha-strike would get through and decide the battle.
